Riley Gilbreath is a Bluegrass/Country artist from Crowley, Texas. He began taking banjo lessons in 2016 at the age of 12 with a loaner banjo from the Bluegrass Heritage Foundation's Play it Forward program. After about 2 years, he had taught himself Flat Pick guitar and began writing songs. In 2019 he had become The Texas State Banjo Champion at age 15.
Riley is known for his laid back and humble attitude that many people respect and appreciate. He is also an unashamed Christian and gives all of the Glory to God for his musical talent.
Some of Riley's musical influences include JD Crowe and The New South, Keith Whitley and Harley Allen. His unique style of entertainment fuses the sound and image of traditional bluegrass and classic country music.
Riley joined his first band Cedar Junction at age 14 as their full time banjo player. When his band leader, Dale Brawner passed away, Riley was asked to join Pocket Change Bluegrass Band with his dad, Danny. Riley was the lead guitarist and provided vocals for the band as well up until 2020. After playing with "Pocket Change" for 2 years, Riley decided to go out on his own and start his own band and unique sound.
Riley formed his current band "Riley Gilbreath & Lone Star Blue" in early 2021. He had always dreamed of having his own bluegrass band and feels beyond blessed to have the band members that currently perform with him. The band includes 23 year old Cole Gore, 21 year old John-Samuel May and 21 year old Sam Smith. Riley met this talented group of boys while attending jams and bluegrass festivals growing up. The 4 boys developed a bond over the years and share a treasured friendship that cannot be bought.
The band is very well seasoned, having performed at the iconic Levitt Pavilion in Arlington, TX, The Bluegrass Heritage Festival in Farmers Branch, TX, 3rd And Lindsley in Nashville, TN, and many other popular venues and bluegrass festivals since they started performing together in 2021.
Riley hopes to continue playing music and performing with his band far into the future.
